It’s taken a few delays for it to get here, but it's finally here and out; Ark Survival: Genesis. Initially, it was to be released last December 2019, the first part expansion was delayed into January 2020, and then once again to February 2020, for some last-minute polishing and balancing.
Rather than offering up one huge map, Genesis launches with five smaller new simulations to poke around in. These include vast oceans, volcanic hellscapes, and an alien moon packed with space-faring whales and deadly solar radiation. A chirpy little robot companion named HLN-A has been added to help guide you through new missions, to introduce Ark players about all this new stuff; while dropping plot beats about the history of the Ark.
Then there are the creatures, besides turtles big enough to act as foundations for your new sea home; Genesis is offering a whole new range of creatures. There are shape-shifting animals to tame, burly four-armed foxes, and glowing neon whales that drift lazily through the cosmos. A number of existing creatures have also gotten regional variants, depending on which of Genesis’ simulations you encounter them in.
This, however, is only part one of two. Studio Wildcard has pegged this as a great big two-part expansion, with the second half due later this Winter.
